Route 42 Holiday Shop Hop For the most concentrated fun, mark your calendars for Dec. 3. The day starts with the Route 42 Holiday Shop Hop. Businesses on Route 42 in Plain City will be open from 9 a.m. to noon offering special discounts, giveaways, raffles, and treats. Children can find Santa at Ace Hardware, 625 W. Main St.

Christmas Under the Clock and Santa’s Parade Next up on Dec. 3 is Christmas Under the Clock from 4 to 7 p.m. in uptown Plain City. The lighting of the village Christmas tree, located in Bicentennial Park, is set for 5:45 p.m. The Starlight Twirlers will perform, organizers will announce winners of the residential decorating contest, and the winners of the Christmas coloring contest will flip the light switch. The crowd also will have a chance to win prizes with Christmas trivia.

Throughout the evening, students from Shekinah Christian School will carol while strolling through the streets. Visitors can go on free wagon rides to Pastime Park and back. The pickup/dropoff spot is at the intersection of Main and Chillicothe streets. Four food trucks will be on site: Biscuit Boss, Dreia’s Kitchen, Guelaguetza Mexican Street Food, and Schmidt’s.

Area businesses will be open, offering treats, giveaways, and holiday shopping. At the clock tower building, 101 S. Chillicothe St., visitors will find Elsa, Santa, crafts, and food, as well as a toy drive dropoff benefiting Daily Needs Assistance. Plain City Public Library is hosting a movie and music sale from 1 to 5 p.m. that day.

Plenty of craft vendors will be set up outside on Main Street. Spaces are free for civic organizations and churches and $20 for all others. To reserve a space, call Linda Granger, Plain City parks and recreation director, at (614) 873-3527, ext. 108 or ext. 118.

Santa’s Parade will step off at 7 p.m. at the conclusion of Christmas Under the Clock. He will throw candy to the crowd.

Extra parking is available in the new lot behind Lovejoy’s Plaza.

Lights at Pastime Park Pastime Park is festooned with thousands of lights and holiday characters. Anyone is welcome to drive through the free display which is lit nightly from dusk to dawn. Pastime Park is located at 370 N. Chillicothe St.

Letters to Santa From Nov. 28 to Dec. 14, children can drop their letters to Santa in a special mailbox next to the village Christmas tree in Bicentennial Park. Every child who sends a letter will get a response from Santa.
